Everyone in McHenry County deserves decent, affordable housing. That statement drives the Corporation for Affordable Homes of McHenry County in every action it takes.
CAHMCO started out as The McHenry County Task Force for Affordable Homes which was incorporated in January, 1995. The Task Force was created with the idea of educating the leaders and citizens of McHenry County to address the needs and myths of affordable housing. The CDBG Commission of the county board identified the Task Force as the logical vehicle to assess the need for affordable housing in the county.
CAHMCO has been successful in carrying out its mission of expanding affordable housing in McHenry County. Its programs serve families earning incomes below 80% of the area's median income.
