Employer-Assisted Housing
CAHMCO is working with a coalition of not-for-profits in the Chicago metro area, as well as the Metropolitan Planning Council (MPC) to develop an Employer-Assisted Housing program.
Employers give down payment assistance to employees, which is matched by State funds (when eligible).
Two area employers have signed up for this program and others are evaluating its potential to assist their employees. This project has received a set-aside of Illinois Affordable Housing Tax Credits, which will give employers a tax credit equal to 50% of the amount given to employees.
