First-Time Homebuyer Program
Down payment and closing cost funds are a big inhibitor which prevent many people from buying their first home. Often times potential buyers are paying as much in rent as they might pay toward a mortgage, but they cannot secure the funds needed for a down payment.
CAHMCO has been administering a first-time homebuyer program since 1998, serving more than 398 homebuyers since that time.
CAHMCO is waiting on the State of Illinois to renew this program for 2011 and no funds are available at this time. Check back to see when the grants are approved.
